Excited!

Last weekend I spent much more than I could afford, but I'm so happy about it!

I went Lakeside with a friend of mine hunting for a new outfit as we are planning to have a night out this weekend. I'd seen a skirt in Dorothy Perkins which is a silver with a big bow detail on the front. I don't usually wear skirts so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try something new. All I needed was a purple vest top and I was good to go.

My shopping spree didn't stop there though. My friend was also looking for an outfit and we passed by Republic hoping to find a dress each, I came out with two! They weren't that expensive either, costing just under £50 all together.

Needing shoes, we had a look in Linzi who have great styles for around £15. I found a plain black pair with a rounded toe which will suit any outfit.

Total spend was way over £100, but it was so worth it.

Why can't you buy online?

I just want to know why Primark don't have a website?

OK so that's not strictly true, there is some rubbish that comes up when you go to primark.co.uk but you can't buy a single item of clothing on there.

I can sort of understand why you can't buy online because I don't think they'll be able to keep up with the high demand of customers. Saying that other major shopping retailers such as Debenhams and River Island all have a buy online facility, so I don't see why Primark can't do this either.

It would definitely be dangerous from my point of view if Primark were to open an online store. I sometimes have to stop myself from going in when I walk past the store to prevent myself from spending any more money.

However, it would still be nice to have the option of buying Primark clothes online if I wanted to!

Maybe in the future...

£3 in Primark!

A few weeks ago I told you about the windproof dome-shaped umbrellas, which cover your head and shoulders; they are perfect for a stormy evening.

I was at my Nan's house on Saturday when she mentioned that she wanted one too. She had looked in Boots and Superdrug but their prices were over £10. She thought that was a bit too expensive, so she went to Primark to see if she could find a bargain. She was in luck!

She some how ended up with two of them, as she had mentioned to her neighbour that she wanted one, who happened to also buy the same one. This was good news for me, as she kindly gave me her spare one.

I haven't tried it out yet as it hasn't rained for a couple of days, thank God. But when I do, I'll be sure to give you an update.

A little something for Mum

This week has been one of the most hectic yet. For all of those who think students have an easy life, think again.

I managed to find time at the weekend to buy my Mum a Mother's Day present, which is this Sunday. I wanted to buy her a nice blouse from Marks and Spencer or BHS but had no luck.

I was just about to admit defeat when I passed by The Body Shop. The amazing smell coming from there is enough to pull anyone inside.

While I was browsing, my nose caught on to something. They do this fantastic range of shower gels, body lotions and body butters, which come in the most satisfying of smells. Those such as strawberry, satsuma and coconut are good enough to eat.

I decided to settle on the body lotion and a small gift set. The prices aren't too bad either as the whole lot cost me just under £13.

She's going to love it.

Holiday bug

I need a holiday.

Everyone around me is talking about holidays. One of my closest friends has just begun a trip of a lifetime to Australia for over 2 months, and another is off to America in the summer.

I booked a holiday a couple of months ago to Gran Canaria for late June. This can't come quick enough if you ask me.

With all this talk of holidays recently, it has got me in the perfect shopping mood (any excuse).

The shops are just beginning to bring out their summer collection, which gives me the perfect opportunity to bikini shop.

I discovered a hidden gem last year when I was bikini shopping. Online website Oli have a fantastic range to suit everyone and their prices are very reasonable. At the moment, they have a sale ongoing, with bikinis starting from just £6!

If you are not a fan of online shopping, New Look have some great ones as usual, starting from around £20.

So if you are feeling a little down this week don't worry, retail therapy is the best cure.

Just another manic Monday

No one likes Mondays. The first day of a long, boring week, looking forward to the short weekend, which will come and pass like it never happened.

We all need cheering up once in a while. For those lucky ones who have cash in their pockets, that means a shopping trip but for those like me who find cash hard to come by these days, there are little things you could buy to keep that smile on your face.

I took a trip to Superdrug yesterday who have a special offer of 3 for 2 on all Maybelline beauty products. I've been in desperate need for a new mascara so I jumped at the opportunity of buying The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara which gives lashes up to 7 x more volume. So far I am impressed. There were no clumps on application and it has stayed on throughout the day. So far so good.

Next I invested in Dream Sunglow a new bronzing pressed powder which helps me keep a natural sun kissed glow all year round. I do hate looking pale and it isn't very often us Brits get to see the sunshine.

Lastly I purchased a Shiny Licious Lipgloss. I haven't bought one for a while because I was always under the illusion that they were too sticky, which I hated. However this one is different. It makes my lips look and feel great, without all the usual mess. It's fruity too!

All this lot cost me just under a tenner so I got a smile on my face without breaking the bank.

I'm in love

I just wanted to take this opportunity express my love for ugg boots.

So far I only have one pair of classic uggs, which my sister bought me for Christmas. I had always wanted a pair but I couldn't really afford them which is why I was delighted when I got them.

She bought me the brown. I was a bit skeptical at first because brown isn't really a colour you can wear with everything, like black is. I soon came round to the idea though because this gave me an excuse to buy brown tops, bags and jumpers to match.

I have now worn them so much over the last two months that they are starting to look tired. At least I'm getting my moneys worth though.

I have however, always loved the look of the cardy ugg and was originally planning to buy these for my birthday in November but they were sold out everywhere. The idea of having a cardigan hugging your feet is cute to say the least.

There is the small matter of the £120 price tag though, but I think they will be totally worth it.

Visit Ugg Australia to begin your love affair.

Miss Zippy

Now this is what I call a cheap outfit; in more ways than one.

Sebastian Errazuriz's design was unveiled last week as the ultimate credit crunch must have. With 120 zips, this dress can be worn in over 100 different ways from a long length evening gown to a mini skirt and a crop top.

But is this really going to catch on?

Fashion is a very fickle thing. Clothes that were originally worn in the 80's are now coming back into style. And how often have you looked through photographs of you from 5 years ago and thought: 'What am I wearing?' It happens constantly.

I personally wouldn't buy one of these, even if the price was right. The zips would annoy me and I would probably lose half of it by repeatedly taking the sections apart.

It isn't exactly easy on the eye either. Horizontal strips only work on very few of us, as they can be very unflattering. The black and white colours make the dress look quite dull, and not really 'dressy' enough to wear on a night out.

I am impressed by the idea though. One item of clothing that can be turned into 100 different outfits is pure genius. Lets hope someone else can come up with something a little more fashionable.

Frocky horror show

The Brit awards were held on Wednesday night at a jam packed Earls Court in Central London. At such a big event I would expect to see fashion goddesses walking down the red carpet, however it was more like a classic case of 'call the fashion police'.

Katy Perry for example is a well known artist after her huge success last year. I know she has an individual style, however last night I thought she went rather over the top with a custom made corset and wet look leggings.

I know only too well that wet look leggings can look amazing if worn right, but she made the classic mistake of not wearing a suitable top. No offence Katy, you do have an amazing figure but I thought you could have done a lot better!

One good thing though is that she is going to be auctioning her outfit, with all proceedings going to charity. Can't wait to get rid perhaps?

Another outfit I thought should have stayed in the wardrobe was the one worn by Estelle. This does nothing for her with its huge square shoulders and high neckline.
In my opinion she should be wearing something more feminine, something which will flatter her curves. This makes her look very round.

She did redeem herself when she performed on stage with The Ting Tings wearing an outfit which she looked a lot more comfortable in. Just as shame she didn't think of that in the first place.

Mini me

I've had some great gifts from my boyfriend this Valentine's day. As well as a bunch of red roses that were delivered to my door, I received a miniture 15ml version of the perfume Lacoste - Touch of Pink, which I found was perfect size for fitting in my hangbag.
I can't usually go out without taking perfume with me and have many times in the past squeezed a 30ml sized bottled in my bag, which has inevitably ended in the zip breaking.

So then, just when I think I have to go without, I come across this little invention. The bad news is, I'm probably going to go through a lot more perfume, which is going to seriously damage my bank balance. However, if I'm not spending money on this, it would've been on a new bag!

For more information visit Kelkoo where prices start from £10.

Barmy weather

Is anyone else getting really fed up with the weather?

I was on my way home from university last night when it started snowing and sleeting. Luckily I had an umbrella in my bag, unfortunately it is the worst umbrella in the world. It's very fragile and I thought it was going to collapse at any moment.

I started searching online and found some great ones for under £15. Visit Umbrella World who have some great dome styles, which cover your head and shoulders. They do windproof too, so you will never again have a red face when your umbrella turns inside out in the middle of a packed high street!

I also couldn't resist walking into New Look yesterday after I saw that they are offering 20% student discount until Sunday and £5 off when you spend £35!
A pair of blue shoes immediately caught my eye, as well as a matching blue top. I also needed a smart outfit for the weekend so didn't waste any time finding the perfect dress and cardigan to suit. My total spend was just over £50, although it would've been a lot more without their special offers.

Yes or no to wet look leggings?

Wet look leggings are definitely a must have item this season, but can anyone pull them off? Or do you have to be a fashion expert to really make a statement in them? I decided to find out for myself.

On a recent trip to Lakeside, I found a pair in New Look for £14. I opted for the black but they come in all sorts of colours from silver and gold, to purple and blue. I also bought a long purple top as it's important to wear a top that covers your behind, unless you have a body like Mischa Barton and can pull it off.

The verdict? I was very impressed with the wet look leggings. They made my legs look smooth and slim and they made a change from the skinny jeans I usually wear on a night out.

They are also a stylish way to keep warm. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have worn 3 pairs of tights on a cold night out with my friends. And lets face it, if you live in the UK, wintery nights are not uncommon.

So my advice for those who don't think they'll be able to pull off the look is to invest in a good fitted pair, not too baggy around the knees or bum, and to buy a long coloured top. You're not going to know if it suits you unless you try it.

Yes or no to wet look leggings? Definitely yes.

Shoes for a fiver!

I have recently become a student again and have realised that it can be a tough job, especially when I have a shopping habit to feed. But I needn't worry as I have been searching the high street for the hottest deals and found more than enough to keep me satisfied for a few weeks.

Here are four of the best purchases I found. Hurry though, because they aren't going to be around for much longer.

The first is a flattering top I found in New Look. With the jewelled detail around the neckline and cross over back straps, it's perfect for any night out. If you think it is a little too cold to wear on its own, you can always wear a long cardigan or alternatively save it for the summer.

Secondly, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this saucy dress on sale in Jane Norman for just over £10. It's perfect for the party season and it's not going to damage your bank balance. Complete the look with a pair of your most killer heels and you'll be good to go.

Skinny jeans for £15 in Dorothy Perkins? Need I say more?

And lastly, how about those for a sexy going out shoe? The heel is not too high, which is perfect for dancing all night long, and you aren't going to have sore feet in the morning. They are only £5 in New Look, so go and grab yourself a pair.
